Why no upload matters
| Mellokit | Typical online PDF signer | |
|---|---|---|
| Where your contract goes | Stays on your device | Often uploaded to a server |
| Your signature | Only in this tab, gone when you close it | Sometimes kept in an account |
| Without internet | Works offline | Usually doesn't work |
| Price | Free, no watermark, no account | Sometimes a sign-up, limits or a paid plan |
How it works
Your browser shows the PDF's pages with pdf.js. Whatever you add sits on top of them: drag it into place and drag its corners to resize it, with a mouse or a finger. Each signature or stamp stays in your list while the tab is open, so one tap adds it to another page, or to another PDF you open next.
When you save, pdf-lib draws your additions onto the pages exactly where you put them. The pages aren't turned into pictures, so the text stays sharp and can still be selected. A picture is stored once, however many pages show it, so the file stays small. Pictures you add are redrawn first, which means hidden data in them, such as a photo's location, doesn't end up in the PDF.

Fill in the date and your name, tick the boxes and sign, on your phone, with your finger.
Frequently asked questions
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Mellokit never uploads your PDF or your signature. Both are opened and combined inside your browser on your own phone or computer, and the signed PDF is saved straight back to your device. No server ever receives them.
How do I sign a PDF?
Choose your PDF and press Signature. Draw your signature with a finger or mouse, type your name or use a picture of your signature. It appears on the page you are looking at: drag it into place, drag its corners to resize it, then press Save and download the signed PDF. Your original file isn't changed.
Can I add a stamp, a company seal or a logo?
Yes. Press Stamp or image and choose a picture of it. A stamp photographed or scanned on white paper can have its white background made transparent, so the text under it stays visible. The picture appears in your list, and one tap puts it on any page.
Can I put the same signature on every page?
Yes. Select it and press Every page, for example to initial a contract. Each copy can still be moved or removed on its own. Or tap the signature in your list to add it to just the page you are looking at.
Is my signature saved?
Only in the memory of this browser tab, so you can use it on several pages and in several PDFs. It is never stored on your device or sent anywhere, and it is gone when you close or reload the tab.
Is this signature legally valid?
It is a visual signature: a picture of your signature on the page. Many everyday documents accept that, but the rules depend on your country and the document. It isn't a certified digital signature or a qualified e-signature, and this tool can't create one. If a contract or an authority requires that kind, use a certified provider.
Does signing change the rest of my PDF?
No. Your signature is drawn on top of the page. The text stays real text, images aren't compressed again, and links, bookmarks and form fields stay. What you add is a picture, including typed text and dates, so it can't be searched. If the PDF already has a digital signature, adding anything makes that signature show as invalid, and the app warns you about this.
Can I add a date or text?
Yes. Date adds today's date, which you can edit, Text adds your own text, and the check mark fills in a checkbox. All of them can be moved and resized like a signature.
Does it work with password-protected PDFs?
No. Remove the password first, then add it again after signing if you need it. The app tells you if a PDF is protected.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After your first visit the app is stored in your browser, so you can open it and sign PDFs without an internet connection. You can also install it like an app.
How large a PDF can I sign?
Up to 300 MB. A phone may run out of memory with a very large file, and the app tells you if that happens.
Is it free? Is there a watermark?
It is free, with no watermark, no account and no daily limit.
